The ‘grin’ thing is pictured here with this little fella.
He’s kinda my mascot. Even though he’s wearing “blue” shoes, his grin will win over just about anything.
On my WordPress blog I just published, SMILE AWHILE!, I wrote to encourage Wealthy Affiliate members who may be facing some ‘bumps-in-the-road’ as they work on their affiliate marketing endeavors. I am expanding that idea with some more “encouraging words”
I like the old song that has the phrase, “… there never is heard a discouraging word and the skies are not cloudy all day”. Granted, this is a little beyond the norm, but it sure sounds good rather than the massive missives dumped on us through the media.
I DON’T WATCH THE NEWS
I quit watching the “normal” news, years ago. Too depressing. Same old, same old. I found I could miss it for weeks and not much changed. Still, bad news.
I, and I believe, most people would like some GOOD news. It’s hard to find.
So with my posts, I will do my best to be uplifting, fun, faith-building and factual. No manufactured mayhem. “Just the facts, ma’am!”
When I talk about a product I have found beneficial, I will tell you the truth as I have found it and you decide if it is of use to you. When I speak of faith, I view it in ALL its applications, not just religious, though that is the major source of our faith, but it takes faith to operate in all our daily involvement.
EXAMPLE: I pull my chair out from the table to sit down and eat and expect (have faith) the chair will hold me when I sit down.
ANOTHER: I get in my truck, put the key in the ignition, turn it and expect (have faith) it to start. It normally does without fail. Should it fail, I know there is a problem to be fixed, but I believe (have faith) my mechanic can fix it and life goes on.
These practical applications of faith lead me to be an encourager. So let me encourage you (especially if you are Christian, others may have different perspectives and that’s OK), to check out a satellite network that is full of good news. It is called the VICTORY NETWORK. If you have Dish satellite, it is channel 265. Their news channel is called “Victory News”.
BACK TO GRINNING
This is better than ‘normal’! I like smiling, but grinning is “over-the-top”! When you grin like this guy, laughing is soon to follow and “laughter is the best medicine”. Even doctors agree smiling, grinning and laughing are things that ADD to our lives, making a better environment for a healthy and happy lifestyle.
Proverbs 17:22 King James Version
22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
Understand, even ‘bad’ jokes help us be healthy.
EXAMPLE:
Why do ducks have wet feet? (Ans.) So they can stomp out forest fires.
Why do elephants have flat feet? (Ans.) They got them from stomping out flaming ducks.
BAD! RIGHT? Still, it probably made you smile.
Here’s a possible motto for you:
Grin, grin, grin. Win, win, win!
It may not make you a lot of money, but you’ll feel better anyway and who knows?
SERIOUS THINKIN’
Years ago, I had opportunity to take a creative writing 2 day graduate course at Minot State University ( I think, or was it College? not sure.), anyway, one homework assignment we were given was to write a fun essay of about 1,000 to 1,500 words. I was NOT to be serious.
I therefore entitled mine, “SERIOUS THINKIN'”. In it I wrote about things that were serious thinking, but assured the reader I wasn’t going to talk about them. To prove the point I used the 26 letters of our alphabet to list ways to ‘not be serious”. Unfortunately this required some serious thinking to accomplish, so I ended the essay with these words, “There, I’ve gone and done it, Iv’e committed serious thinking!”
Sometimes we try so hard to ‘do-it-right’ that we overwork the process and never quite ‘get there’. Don’t be so serious! Grin a little and it will flow better and you will finish happy, if not totally satisfied that it is perfect. Nothing is ever really perfect, so just grin and win anyway!
LAST SHOT
There was an old lady from Kent,
Her knees were all twisted and bent,
She walked East and West,
Trying her best,
But was never quite sure where she went!
GRIN!
